Hi everyone. My name is Gopi. I was born just a few weeks ago, and before I knew what was happening, I was torn away from my mother and forced into a transport van to a place with many others like me. I had no idea what I was doing there, but a terrible feeling settled in as they tied a red cloth around my neck and said I was now a gift for the goddess Gadhimai. I got to know they were taking me to the temple just to sacrifice me so that their grants get fulfilled. But then, like a miracle, Sneha came into my life—a true savior, a guardian angel who pulled me from the very edge of death. This is my second chance at life, and I will always be grateful for this gift, for the love and safety that came with it.
Here in the sanctuary, I met a mother figure, Mayakumari. I felt safe around her, and I got to know about the bond of mother and her child. She gave all her love to someone like me who had been separated from the mother at an early age. I also met my best friend Maicha; the daughter of Mayakumari. We were just a few months apart in age. Unfortunately, I lost my mother figure Mayakumari as well. She was sick and despite all the treatment, she passed away. Even though I am small calf, I have seen alot in my life. I have so much love to give.
