Distemper which is also known as canine distemper is a virus that affects a dog’s respiratory, gastrointestinal, respiratory and central nervous systems, as well as the conjunctival membranes of the eye. This virus is passed from dog to dog through direct contact with fresh urine, blood or saliva. Sneezing, coughing and sharing food and water bowls are all possible ways for the virus to be passed on. There is no known cure for distemper but early prevention can be made by vaccinating the dogs against canine distemper. Usually, puppies and adolescent dogs who haven't been vaccinated are most prone to distemper. We believe that prevention is better than cure. Keeping this in mind, we vaccinate our shelter dogs time to time. Today we vaccinated all the puppies at our shelter against distemper.
We would like to suggest everyone to vaccinate their dogs timely. We alone cannot end distemper. Your help is much appreciated to help us help more street dogs. Donate today at www.snehacare.org/donate.
