Snehasadan was started in the year 2001 as a care & support centre for people infected and affected with HIV/AIDS. This is the third ministry initiative of the Camillians in India. Camillians started this facility with the support of local community and Rotary Club of Mangalore. As a people oriented institution, Snehasadan is sensitive to the needs and concerns of people affected by HIV/AIDS and it endeavours to provide a physically & psychologically safe haven for them. Here, a multi-disciplinary approach involving physicians, therapists, nurses, counsellors and volunteers helps patients regain their health, confidence, dignity and will to rejoin the society. The centre have also added orphan and vulnerable children (OVC) component to its care plan from 2002. It is also a learning site identified under Samastha project specifically for the care of OVC. |
