Camillians in India took a new step in our health care initiatives, by constructing a Pastoral Health Centre to add a new perspective to our healing ministry. The foundation stone of the building was blessed and laid by Fr. Lorenzo Testa (Provincial Procurator) in the presence of Bro. Valentino Marcato (Provincial Counselor) and Fr. Mathew Perumpil, (Provincial Delegate) on 11 March, 2007. On the occasion of Silver Jubilee celebration of the Camillians’ presence in India, the new building was blessed by His Eminence Varkey Cardinal Vithayathil CSsR, President CBCI and inaugurated by Most Rev. Renato Salvatore MI, the Superior General of the Order, in October 25, 2009.
This centre would provide an opportunity for health care providers to explore and practice “compassionate care and treatment practices” in the context of health care that is becoming more and more business-driven and ‘commercialized’ now a days. The purpose of this centre is to impart holistic information in the health care world based on the Gospel values and ‘the New School of Charity’ St. Camillus started around 450 years ago. The centre will be affiliated to “Camillianum” in Rome and other Universities in India. |
