Secunderabad

Camillians have entered into a contract with Catholic Health Association of India (CHAI) in October, 2007 to establish a Community Care Centre for the care for PLHAs and people infected with other communicable diseases.  It will also be a training and research centre to coordinate the national, state and church efforts in HIV/AIDS care and management and to increase quality service delivery.  Initially it is going to be a 60 bedded Community Care Centre (CCC) to render holistic care to PLHA.

 

Objectives

  • A Nodal center for trainings and demonstration that offers high quality care, support and treatment services to with the facilities for OP & IP services, lab support and medical expertise practicing best infection control measures and hospital management systems
  • Scaling up of existing Care and Support centers through training programs and Distance Mode  Education.
  • To further scale up the currently running CDC & APSACS supported HIV/AIDS training program for doctors and nurses. It will equip with innovative training programs for the targeted group.
  • A national level training institution for Medical Doctors, Nurses, field health care workers and counselors to provide them pre-service and in-service trainings that will move away HIV training from just class room settings to bed-side teaching and case-study models.
  • Technical support institution for HIV/AIDS, TB and other communicable related information by offering ready TA to the various member institutions across the country
  • Nodal agency offering programmatic support and as a coordinating body to develop linkages and bridge the gap between the public health initiatives for prevention, care & support, ART, DOT and outreach programs by providing holistic training to a  variety of health care providers
  • A model demonstration site for Govt of India (sp. For APSAC) to study, improvise and replicate similar cost efficient models elsewhere in the country.
  • Further scaling up of the comprehensive community health and communicable diseases program to the member institutes as HIV/AIDS is a public health issue
